who we are
We are a small church plant in the Tri-Cities sponsored by the Baptist Missionary Association of America. We don't have the word "baptist" in our name because we are not like alot of "baptist" especially the crazy ones you see on National News doing something stupid.
In order to see a clearer picture of who we are, it may help to see first who we are not. We are not a bunch of perfect people who have it all together all of the time. We are normal people who get up on the wrong side of the bed, who have bad hair days, no hair days, and moments when we stick our foot in our mouth. And sometimes both feet!
We are imperfect people who understand that we have been created by a perfect God who accepts us just like we are but loves us way too much to leave us that way. And He loves you that much too! We believe that God has an amazing plan for your life. Just simply existing from day to day isn't good enough. You are meant for so much more. We are all meant for so much more. To not just be alive but to really live! The Bible records in John 10:10 that the whole reason Christ came was so that we could have life and that we might have it to the fullest. We call this the Summit Life. Life how it’s meant to be lived. Here at the Summit we pursue this life by doing two primary things: loving God and loving people. We believe that if we can get really good at these two things, that we will truly be living and not just merely existing. When Jesus was asked in Matthew 22:36 what the greatest commandment was, He responded with these words: "The greatest commandment is this, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind and secondly you shall love your neighbor as yourself." And so this is our focus: loving God and loving people!
